Telecom provides an array of telecommunication services to the campus community. The team manages the campus telephone and voicemail systems, infrastructure cabling, and campus issued mobile devices. The team is also responsible for all telecommunication installations and repairs, chargebacks, calling cards, telecom related training classes, campus operators, and the campus telephone directory.

Cell Phones
Telecommunications offers an array of services and support for campus issued cell phones. As an additional service we also offer access to discounts for our campus employees pertaining to their personal cell phone plans.
CAMPUS UPGRADE POLICY
CSUF EMPLOYEE DISCOUNTS WITH CELL PHONE COMPANIES
Did you know you can get discounts from the major cell phone companies just because you work for CSUF? You do not need to be a new customer; you can have these discounts applied to your current cell phone plan. Discounts range from 15-25% depending on carrier.

CSUF CELL PHONE PROGRAM
Currently enrolled CSUF Students, Faculty and Staff are eligible to obtain a mobile device and cellular service (provided by Verizon) at significantly discounted prices through the CSUF Cell Phone Service Program.
Free Teleconferencing
Limitations on FREE Teleconferencing:
There IS a limit to the number of people who may participate in these teleconferences. A total of 12 people may be on the call (i.e. the moderator plus 11 participants.) Please schedule the teleconference at least 2 business days ahead of the time requested.
How to Schedule a FREE Teleconference:
Use the Outlook calendar to find an available meeting time by creating a New Meeting, selecting “Scheduling Assistant,” and selecting “Add Rooms” to find an open teleconference room. Choose from the Teleconference No Fee rooms and find an available time. A Telecom staff member will respond to the meeting invitation confirming the teleconference time and dialing instructions. (Please note the teleconference phone number is in the name of the teleconference.)
Using a FREE Teleconference:
The first person to call the teleconference phone number will hear ringing until another person calls into the system. As soon as the second caller dials into the teleconference, the call is established. (There is no music while waiting for participants to enter.) As long as one caller is still on the line, the teleconference will remain active; however, once everyone has hung up, the line is disconnected and is no longer available for teleconferencing even if the meeting time has not expired.
Fee-based Teleconferencing
Costs and Limitations on FEE-BASED Teleconferencing:
These teleconferences cost the moderator $0.06 per minute per caller. There is NO limit to the number of people who may participate in these teleconferences. Please schedule the teleconference at least 2 business days ahead of the time requested.
How to Schedule a FEE-BASED Teleconference:
Use the Outlook calendar to find an available meeting time by creating a New Meeting, selecting “Scheduling Assistant,” and selecting “Add Rooms” to find an open teleconference room. Choose from the Teleconference Fee-Based rooms and find an available time. A Telecom staff member will respond to the meeting invitation confirming the teleconference time and dialing instructions. (Please note the teleconference phone number is in the name of the teleconference.)
Using a FEE-BASED Teleconference:
Each caller will hear a welcome message with instructions to enter their PIN followed by the pound (#) sign. (The moderator will have a different PIN and capabilities than the participants.) The caller will then be asked to state their name followed by the pound (#) sign. If the moderator has not arrived into the teleconference yet, the participants will hear music. Once the moderator arrives, s/he must press *91 and when instructed to must enter their four-digit campus extension number followed by the pound (#) sign. (The automated messages the moderator hears during the teleconference are not heard by the participants.) It is advised that the moderator press pound twice (##) to disconnect all participants at the end of the teleconference.
VoIP - Upgraded Telephone System

Reporting an Issue
If your phone is dead or you are experiencing problems with your phone, use another campus phone and dial 4357 (HELP) and leave a message.
In your message, include the following information:
- Name
- Department
- Contact Extension
- Problem Extension
- Phone type (57i, 31i, or analog/fax)
- Location of problem
- Do you have dial tone?
- Description of problem
Repairs received before 2:00 p.m. will be handled the same business day.
